Chapter 7

It focuses on elements which bind textual material together thematically in order to produce a text that is grammatically correct, syntactically appropriate semantically meaning and thematically progressive.

As you manage to identify element which bind a text together you are likely to produce a text that is thematically progressive that is dynamic in nature that is crucial for text development and text communication, because if keep on building up frames without advancing the theme in most probability you’re likely to disinvite your prospective readership.

As you mange to investigate these elements that bind elements together, you are likely to focus on the most important principle governing text development and text generation, text cohesion and text coherence.

Text cohesion focuses primarily on the elements which bind the text together grammatically and syntactically.

Text coherence focuses on the logicality. It is liked up to extra linguistic factors.

These two promoters, text cohesion and text coherence are likely to help you build up a text that is likely to help you meet the requirement of accuracy which is author-based and requirement of acceptability which reader-centered.

Intertextuality means all constituent elements making up a given text are interrelated, interdependent. If they are not, that means the text that you intend to produce at the TT level will be viewed as in violation of requirement of Intertextuality.

Interrtectuality focuses on your ability to appreciate these constituent elements featured by the text, and the way such constituent elements do cooperate, collaborate and conspire to form meaning. Any text is not a random collection of constituent elements; there are certain elements that bind such constituent elements at the level below the sentence level.

There are certain elements which bind sentences together to form longer segment of discourse. These are discourse feather you need to focus on other rise whatever you produce will be invitation the nation of inter-textually.

P.121: Intertextual chain

Here, you need to focus on these elements whether they are of syntactic nature, whether they are pronominal devices, or they are lexical items which contribute to binding a text together.

Ex: Monira is senior student of English department.

Monira is established information. The copula, the linking verb, IS links theme with the rhyme. The rhyme ( new information) “she is senior student of English”.

The linking verb links up the theme with rhyme. Copula is transition that it’s allowed for that type of linkage to create an inter-textual chain.

One possible way to investigate the notion of inter-textuality is break down the text into a collation of themes and rhymes, to see how such collections, cooperation, collaborate and conspire to form meaning and produce texture.

Inter-textuality is linked up to the notion of gestalt which signifies the holistic nature of text, how constituent elements making up a text cooperate collaborate and conspire to make a synthetic text.

That is also belongs to the domain of intertextuality, in order to demonstrate respect from the notion of intertextuality you need to process the text syntagmtically or paradigmatically.

هذه الفقرة تم شرحها في المحاضر 13 لـلمجموعةB . لذا لم افرغ..

The theme and the rhyme are important to establish a text that is grammatically correct, syntactically appropriate semantically meaning and thematically progressive.

In order to move from the domain of intertextuality into the domain intentionally, you need to ensure that the text is not only syntagmatically admissible but also pragmaticall acceptable.

You’ll not be able to make that giant move from intertextuality into internationally unless you invoke the context and investigate extra linguistic factors. You need to appropriate the text within that broader system of knowledge which might give rise to the text under consideration.

You need to consider translation as a research activity and you need to do extra readings which are likely to take far beyond the boundaries of the ST. Only then, you’re likely to ensure that the text is not only syntegmatically admissible but also pragmatically acceptable.

Types of intellectual reference:

Sukan plays tennis every day. By so doing, she intends to remain slim and to reduce weight.

The subordinate structure “By so doing” acts a reference subsumed information features by statement no.1, and contribute to link up statement no.1 with statement no.2 syntagmatically by means of reference.

Reference can be used to further consolidating the notion of intertexuality to ensure that your text is grammatically correct, syntactically appropriate semantically meaning and thematically progressive. So, the text is bond to be dynamic in nature. Dynamism mean text is state of flux, it is not stagnant. It also means that you don’t produce a single frame that contributes nothing to the advancement of theme.

In order to account for intentionality, you need to produce a text that in compliance with requirement of intertexuality, only then you come eligible to entertain possibilities linked up the notion of intentionality.
